Event Navigation
CORNWALL, ON. – The St. Lawrence River Institute of Environmental Sciences is tackling March Break boredom with a week full of natural fun and science at Cooper Marsh Visitor and Education Centre in South Lancaster. From March 13th to the 17th, this unique day camp will provide children, aged 6 to 11, with hands on opportunities to experience science and nature up close and personal. Campers have the option of choosing to sign up for individual daily themed sessions or they can register for an entire week of non-stop fun and discovery.
Cristina Charette, Education Programmer at the River Institute says, “It is all about combining nature, science, and discovery in the great outdoors. Each day is a new adventure with activities led by local scientists and naturalists”. She adds, “Cooper Marsh with its trails and Visitor Centre is the perfect location to spend March Break.”
- March 13th – Feathered Friends
Bird is the word! Discover the fascinating world of birds. Find out where feathered friends go in the winter, how they fly, and what birds can be found in your own back yard.
- March 14th – Super Scientists
Future biologists, chemists, and ecologists are invited to become super scientists for a day by conducting experiments that are non-stop fun as well as educational.
- March 15th – Microscope Mania
Cooper Marsh campers look at the world the way a scientist see it – up close. The smallest objects can tell us big things. Bring along the tiniest items you have and see them in a brand new way – under the microscope.
- March 16th – Eco Arts
Cooper Marsh is a natural work of art so campers are invited to become inspired by the great outdoors. Imagination and nature are mixed with a little paint, pencils, wood, music, photography, and inspiration for a day that celebrates arts and nature.
- March 17th – Planet Protectors
Our Planet Earth needs protecting. Campers find out all about reducing, re-using, recycling, composting, as well as about plants and animals in Ontario that need our protection.
